Hachimanbayashi Battlefield

Historic Site
This is the site of an ancient battle that took place in 1584, during the Battle of Komaki and Nagakute which pitted Toyotomi Hideyoshi against Tokugawa Ieyasu and Oda Nobukatsu, between the armies of commander Mori Nagayoshi on Hideyoshi’s side and commander Sakai Tadatsugu on Ieyasu’s side. A pagoda remains to commemorate Noro Sukezaemon, who is believed to have died in battle while aiding in the escape of Nagayoshi, who was outmatched in the battle. The memorial festival held in his memory takes place here once a year.
