In 1584, the Battle of Komaki and Nagakute broke out over the successor of Oda Nobunaga, with Toyotomi Hideyoshi pitted against Tokugawa Ieyasu and Oda Nobukatsu. It is believed that during the war, the armies of Ikeda Tsuneoki and Mori Nagayoshi, who fought for Hideyoshi on the losing side, were routed at this mountain pass.
